KC Ortiz was born and raised in Chicago, USA. His personal and authentic style attempts to take on complex subjects in a raw and simplified language accessible to all. KC’s work varies from ink on paper to large scale murals.
KC has been working as an artist and photographer for over a decade and has exhibited across the globe, including in New York, Los Angeles, Bangkok, Paris, and London.
KC’s photography work has taken him to some of the most remote and troubled parts of the world, covering subjects from conflict to statelessness. KC has seen and experienced the human condition in many of it’s most dramatic forms from Burma to Peru. His photography has appeared in most major publications including the New York Times, Time, Newsweek, Vice, and many others. His work on the Hmong living on the run in Laos was awarded first place in the 68th Pictures of the Year International feature photograph category.
Based in Bangkok, Thailand for the past three years, KC now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark.
